About the Safari 12'

The 12' Safari is the entry point of our range in every sense — the shortest drop, the smallest footprint, and the theming most obviously aimed at preschoolers. Sculpted giraffe and zebra appliqués run up the sides of the climbing wall, the lane is short and wide, and the attached splash pool sits low enough that a three-year-old can step out of it without help. It is a first slide, and it is unapologetic about that.

Twelve feet reads as small to an adult and enormous to a four-year-old, which is the entire design brief. The climbing wall has closely spaced holds and a low first step, so children who cannot yet manage the taller units get up it without a lift. That independence is what determines whether a slide gets used all afternoon or gets abandoned once the parent gets tired of boosting.

The animal appliqués do real work beyond decoration. They give small children something to identify and talk about, which is how you get a hesitant three-year-old to approach a piece of equipment that is four times their height. It sounds soft; anyone who has tried to coax a nervous toddler onto a slide knows it is the difference between a purchase that gets used and one that sits in the garage.

A short slide has a short runout, and the attached pool is proportionally shallow. That combination means riders decelerate quickly and gently, which is what you want for this age group. It also means the unit is quiet — less speed, less impact, less shrieking, which parents of very young children may appreciate more than the children do.

The Safari is currently out of stock with no published price. We list it because it remains part of the range and because people search for it specifically, but we are not going to invent a figure. Join the notify list and you will get the real one.

Asked and answered

Safari 12' FAQs

Is 12 feet safe for a three-year-old?

The example spec above starts the age range at 3 with adult supervision required at all times. Supervision is not optional on any unit we sell, and least of all on one aimed at preschoolers.

Will it still be fun when they turn seven?

For a while. By eight most kids want more speed. If you are buying one slide to cover ages three to ten, a 15-footer is the better long-term purchase.

When will it be restocked?

Unknown. The notify list gets the announcement and the real price at the same moment the shop page does.

Can two small children go down together?

The spec is one rider at a time. On a short lane a second rider does not have room to decelerate independently.
